Terseer Ugbor is one young Honorable Member of the Federal House of Representatives who’s career path did not portend to interject with politics 10 years ago until 2014 when he first contested for the Federal House of Representatives.
The 41 years old technocrat turned politician hails from Menev Ikyurav-ya Kwande Local Government. He is an entrepreneur in waste recycling and communications technology, a sustainability consultant and a public policy expert with over 15 years of practical working experience. He holds a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree with interests in Sustainable Development and Circular Economy. He recently launched the African Intelligentsia Forum, a policy think-tank to advocate ideas for collective development of Africa.
Hon. Terseer is a Board Member and Executive Secretary of the Alliance for Responsible Battery Recycling (ARBR). He is the founder/CEO of REDIN Recycling Industries and also founder of Easyfone Communications and the Gwarinpa Metro Newspaper, which won him the first MTN Budding Entrepreneur Award in 2012 and the World Bank/PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Grant for entrepreneurship in 2013. He publishes the Living Environment Magazine, a niche publication promoting all things environmental sustainability, ecosystems and pollution issues in Africa.
He has presented papers and spoken at over 40 seminars, workshops and conferences in Africa and has designed and participated in over 10 policy development projects with the World Bank, African Development Bank, European Union, Federal Ministry of Environment, German Development Agency (GIZ), the Heinrich Boll Foundation, the Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for Africa (BCC-Africa) and the Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN), among others.
Hon Terseer Ugbor started his political journey as part of the successful Planning and Strategy Team of the 2011 Goodluck/Sambo Presidential Campaign Council. He was appointed Head of ICT and Social Communications of Neighbour-2-Neighbour, a 2011 national political platform. He later became Special Aide to the Minister of Aviation on Communications before resigning in 2013 to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) during its formative.
During the 2014/15 political season, Hon. Terseer Ugbor returned to Benue State to contest for the Kwande/Ushongo House of Representatives seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC) but lost narrowly to Hon. Barrister Benjamin Wayo.
Later in 2018 election season, he accepted the invitation to contest the Kwande East State Assembly elections but stepped down for Hon. Fidelis Unongo at the request of the party leader Senator George Akume. Hon. Terseer Ugbor was then appointed Deputy Director of Strategy to the Jime/Ode Governorship Campaign Organisation where he worked closely with Dr Stephen Tsav as Director of Strategy. In 2022, Terseer Ugbor contested and won the APC House of Representative Primaries for Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency and now seeks to represent his constituency at the 10th National Assembly.
Hon. Terseer Ugbor has been a political player in Kwande Local Government, supporting party activities, sponsoring people to party positions at ward and local government levels, networking and empowering his constituents. Hon. Terseer Ugbor has sponsored the school fees of several students in secondary and university levels, catered to medical bills, initiated empowerment programs for small entrepreneurs, facilitated placements in the Immigration Service, Nigerian Airforce and other Federal Government institutions, supported weddings, burials and other socio-cultural activities among others.
