Hon. Dennis Idahosa is the honorable member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ovia South West/North Central of Edo State on his second term after first elected in 2019. He became the youngest deputy governor in the country after the September 2024 governorship election in Edo State under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon. Idahosa was born on 8 November 1980, in Benin City of Edo State. He holds bachelor degree in Sociology and a Master’s in Legislative Studies from reputable universities in Nigeria and Canada.
Before delving into politics, Hon. Idahosa had worked in the private sector health and allied sectors before joining politics. He had worked in real estate in Canada where he migrated to as a teenager in 1998 after secondary school for university education equipped with the vision and hope to chart a greener and prosperous path for his life.
His business success only amplified his reputation in 2014-2015 when he became appointed as a commissioner of the Edo State Ministry of Investments, Public-Private Partnerships (2014–2015) by the administration of Adams Oshiomhole, emerging as one of the youngest commissioner in the country. He was a member of the National Agency of the Great Green Wall of the Federal Ministry of Environment in Abuja, from March 2018 to November 2018.
As a honorable state commissioner, he is known to have donated his salary to the people of his constituency to provide economic empowerment and support. This culminated into earning him the reputation as a known philanthropist and kind hearted citizen who was out to serve his people genuinely.
In 2019, he contested for the Federal House of Representatives and emerged winner becoming one of the youngest honorable members at the age of 38 years and became the Chairman, House Committee on Legislative Compliance. He gained greater support and acceptance by his constituency after successfully attracting over 100 projects to his constituency in just the first term in office. This led to his overwhelming victory in 2019 for the second term in office.
