Comrade Solomon Adodo’s recent appointment by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to serve on the board representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of the newly established North Central Development Commission (NCDC) is loud, bold and clear message to Nigerians that the Tinubu led Renewed Hope government takes cognizance of inclusion of competent, productive and younger citizens in public governance. The president’s appointment of Adodo as the youngest member of the board of the commission seeks to give a stronger voice to young people in the region as the region is one with highest population of youths and young leaders in the country.

Adodo is one of the most decorated youth leaders in the region spanning his unequivocal stance on youth and civil advocacy over the past 15 years including well known participation in Student Union, National Union of Nigerian Students, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Not Too Young To Run, United Nations Conferences on Youth and other national youth advocacy programs. His reputation amongst youth and civil society is one embroidered with admiration, appreciation and commendation such that seldom does the name Adodo resonates with anything unsavory. In fact, his fight in civil society and advocacy has been chronicled with so many persecutions that would have made many to chicken out yet Adodo had remained resolute over the years committing to apolitical and unbiased advocacy irrespective of the government or party at the helm.

Before his appointment, Adodo after graduating from the Federal University of Agriculture known as Sarwuan Joseph Tarka University, Makurdi, he continued to serve in volunteer capacity in non-governmental organizations involved in youth empowerment, social and economic development across the North Central, South West, South South and North West regions of the country. He contributed in designing and developing policies, programs and initiatives that implemented by reputation NGOs. Even though maintaining his apolitical stance and advocacy for equity, Adodo had never shied away from amplifying government’s germane efforts and also calling out where necessary.

Known for his proficient oratory and heartwarming advocacy over the past years earned national and international invitations for speeches and presentation against social vices including cultism, drug abuse, internet fraud, education, vocational skills etc. He had dazzled even cynics with his motivational and thought provoking oratory.

The announcement of Adodo appointment has raised jubilation in the camp of many civil society organizations within the North Central region and beyond affirming their support for the indefatigable young leader. It is no doubt to many that his appointment is a win for the civil society and youth community in the country, and an inspiration to millions of youths to be steadfast and focused on doing the right thing.

Comrade Solomon Adodo has expressed his resolve to give a voice to the ailing problems of the Federal Capital Territory and North Central states in line with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu Renewed Hope agenda. He also could not conceal his appreciation to the Senate President who had been receptive to youth advocacy since being governor, as minister and now in the Red Chamber. Adodo assured of his commitment to work with other board members to ensure the mandate of the commission is actualized for good and benefit of the millions of Nigerians in the region.
